This listed manor house in North Devon has been re-imagined and brought into the modern-day with a sprinkling of mod cons and a flourish of style but still retains its Georgian heart. This large property in Bideford sleeps up to 24 guests and, along with its acres of nature-filled gardens and private tennis courts, will create cherished family memories of a time well spent.

Step inside this impressive property and be awe-struck by the majestic hallway, an ode to its Georgian history and featuring a sweeping grand staircase - a great setting for a group photo. There are three reception rooms for hosting guests including a period lounge with comfy sofas and a Smart TV, and a library that offers a more formal setting as well as a selection of books and games. Finally, there is a spellbinding morning room, where you can be your most regal self and sit at the piano, or lounge by the fire. The dining room is the setting for your main event, boasting parquet flooring, chandeliers and floor-to-ceiling windows with dramatic draping curtains; no meal will ever be anything but spectacular here, with French doors that lead out onto the terrace for pre-dinner drinks. If you do want to dine in more casual surroundings, the farmhouse kitchen is furnished with a large oak table. There is a super king-size bedroom on the ground floor, which has an additional sofa bed and an en-suite wet room. The rest of the ten king-size bedrooms and their countryside views can be found by ascending the staircase. Two feature ornate four-poster beds, and one can be presented as a twin upon request and also offers a bunk bed making it a great option for children. Surrounding the property is 5 acres of park and woodland that presents ample opportunity for exploring. Directly outside, the property has a spacious patio area where guests can dine alfresco, light the two fire pits and roast marshmallows in the evening. A variety of outdoor games are provided, including croquet and a private tennis court. There is also a games room with ping-pong table and a pool table, and a toddler play area with a swing and a slide.

Set high on a hill just a mile outside the town of Bideford, this manor house may give the feeling of a rural retreat, but it's also conveniently located near to some of Devon's prettiest towns and villages. Bideford has a good selection of pubs, shops and restaurants, or if you're looking for somewhere with a sea view, drive to the idyllic Instow (5 miles) and dine at one of its waterfront eateries. Across the water from Instow is the darling village of Appledore where you can meander the pretty streets and pick up fresh local produce for dinner. Adventurers will love the coastal walk along the Hartland Heritage Coast (14 miles), a great group activity.

The stay was fantastic lots of room for all the kitchen was well equipped for everyone and we all had great evening meals together around the large dining room table. We even held a highbtea for a special 80th Birthday celebration which was enjoyed by all and the birthday girl. The pictures do not do the house justice as it is much bigger, homely and has a lovely atmosphere. Perfect as a country house getaway, for a larger group. The house has everything you need and more. It really is like being in your own private hotel- minus the staff. Hannah was lovely, greeted us and came to say goodbye when we left. Absolutely stunning house, beautifully furnished and an absolute treat to stay there. We took 3 teenagers and 9 under 6 year olds all of whom loved the house, playroom, gardens, woods, (tennis court great for remote controlled cars and toddler bike riding). The house is absolutely beautiful and the facilities are excellent. Massive living rooms, every bedroom has a lovely en-suite and wonderful gardens with activities such as tennis provided for. Had a fabulous week at Hallsannery House. Totally exceeded all my expectations. Lovely bedrooms and a great place to enjoy with family and friends. Hannah was so helpful with any questions we had. Would definitely recommend to anyone who was thinking of staying there.
