Stanley House is an impressive, large detached holiday house situated just outside Boot, in the beautiful Eskdale Valley in the Lake District National Park.
This large and welcoming property lends itself brilliantly to large gatherings of friends and family for special occasions, celebrations or outdoor activities. Sleeping 26 in 12 spacious, en-suite rooms, Stanley House can be booked exclusively for a large house party, or smaller groups can book part of the accommodation on a more flexible bed and breakfast basis.
At Stanley House we offer flexibility in everything we do. We can arrange a fully catered service, or leave you to self-cater in our well-equipped open plan kitchen. For the best of both worlds, we can prepare and serve breakfast for you every day, while you then prepare your own meals and snacks. We even keep a well-stocked Open Larder containing all the basic essentials you’ll need, so no need to drag milk, bread and tomato sauce with you!
If you prefer to eat out, Stanley House is close to some fine Inns in Boot or Eskdale Green, with The Woolpack (our sister property) just a short distance away at the foot of Hardknott Pass.
Stanley House has beautiful large lawns and gardens which run down to the banks of the confluence of The River Esk and Whillan Beck.
We encourage you to treat Stanley House as your own. We have two spacious sitting rooms with comfy sofas and one has a TV, video and a wood burning stove, while the other has TV, DVD player and Playstation. There is also a drying room and downstairs loo. The kitchen opens onto a light and airy dining room/conservatory which will comfortably seat everyone at once.
There are 12 spacious bedrooms, all en-suite and furnished to a high standard, with lovely views. All the rooms are flexible and can be prepared as double or twin beds, and extra beds or travel cots can be provided. If you’d like a bit more space, Stanley House has two family suites available, offering two bedrooms and a large family bathroom connected by a private hallway. One of the bedrooms in the suite can also accommodate an extra bed for larger families.
All rooms have HD flat screen televisions with DVD players, free WIFI, tea and coffee tray, hair dryer and hot water bottle. All the beds are made up for you in advance and towels are included.
Every bedroom room has a beautiful view, either of the fells and steam trains on the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway or of Stanley House’s gardens,the rivers and woodlands.

Stanley House is on a country road in the heart of stunning Eskdale, near to the villages of Boot and Eskdale Green. Eskdale Green has a good shop and there are 2 great quality inns within easy walking distance, and a further 3 within a 5 minute drive.

The famous Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway (La’al Ratty as it’s known locally) puffs right past our door and there’s a wayside halt where you can catch the train to Dalegarth Station at Boot. This Lake District location is unspoilt and still relatively undiscovered but it is glorious walking country, with Cumbria’s beautiful coastline and some fabulous visitor attractions just a short drive away, including Muncaster Castle and Wastwater (voted Britain’s Favourite View in 2009).
