Roaches Hall is an imposing, stone Victorian hunting lodge, situated in a prime position of natural beauty in England's famous Peak District. The high-ceilinged formal rooms combine with modern hi-tech comforts and such quirky features as the circular bed in the Turret Room.
This is indeed a big domain, sleeping 30 very comfortably, with two large lounges where your group can chat, read or watch films after a day's fresh air, and a wonderful big dining room where you can all eat together. Mothers and teenage daughters can be treated to massages and facials etc from visiting beauty therapists. The Hall has over eight acres of garden, field and woodland for your exclusive use, beyond which there are hundreds more acres of open land, freely accessible to all.
The house sleeps 30 in 13 bedrooms (six doubles, five twins, two quads (four single beds in each). There are ten bath/shower rooms to complement them. The double ground floor bedroom is worth noting for its ensuite wet room which has disabled facilities. One of the bedrooms has a Victorian carved four-poster, another a circular double bed (within the round Turret Room).
The primary sitting room has very large picture windows with views to south and west. It has a 50' TV and DVD player. The second, smaller sitting room is ideal for those who prefer a quieter room to read etc. Finally, there's the snug with table football, books, films and board games.
The kitchen is beautifully equipped for large group self-catering, with a large cooking range, an American style fridge freezer with ice maker, two dishwashers, microwave, washer/dryer, 6-slot toaster, and copious crockery, glassware etc. All meal requirements can be catered for, from private dining (chef and waitresses provided) to barbecues and buffets.
Local farmers’ market produce can be delivered for your arrival (as can local suppliers of wine, flowers and balloons). The dining room has seating for up to 30, a fabulous room with high picture windows, a marble fireplace and genuine Victorian balloon back chairs.
Small meetings are easily arranged. There’s a large dining/conference table which seats 40, full catering if required with flip charts and screen.
Good quality linen and towels are provided. The house is centrally heated and there’s a large wood-burning stove in the living room with firewood supplied.
The garden has chairs, tables and barbecues. Well-behaved pets are welcome
Approached up a long drive, the Hall is set under the famous Roaches Rocks – a stunning location between Buxton (9 miles) and Leek (4 miles) within the Peak District national park. There are spectacular views for miles. The nearest supermarket is in Leek. The Rock Inn is a mile away, the nearest bus stop one mile (to Buxton/Leek).
