The perfect chalet-hotel for large groups wishing to holiday together in the mountains, either in the summer or in the snow. Large, woody and cosy, the chalet is named after the 4-sided fire-place which forms a central point and is always fired up as guests return from a day on the slopes for afternoon tea or a drink from the bar before dinner. The house is fully catered - a typical day would begin with tea in bed and end with a 4-course meal from the talented in-house chef.
All bedrooms are en-suite, and all are themed, including the Honeymoon Room which has a four-poster bed and a jacuzzi. There are substantial discounts on group or family rooms, some of which are split-level. Guests can return from the slopes to a sauna and massage, drinks, or an outdoor hot tub. There is a crèche run by a qualified nanny, which has toys and games for toddlers and babies, with bottle-warming and sterilizing facilities in the crèche kitchenette. Breakfasts (continental or cooked), suppers, aperitifs, canapés, wines, coffee and chocolates are all included. Children's meals are served early evening. The chef has one night off, when the staff are happy to recommend some of the excellent restaurants in Morzine.
The chalet has a games room, private bar, internet access and satellite TV. All bedrooms have a baby-listening facility. Various sports are on offer, including mountain biking, golf, pony trekking, tennis, swimming, fishing, summer toboganning, paragliding and canyoning.
The chalet is ideally situated at the foot of the ski slopes linking Morzine and Avoriaz in the area of 'Les Prodains'. Skiing starts at the cable car opposite the chalet; blue, red and black pistes finish right in the garden.
Morzine stands on the River Dranse, one hour from Geneva airport. There are various lakeside towns to visit (Thonon, Evian) plus the medieval village of Yvoire, with its cheese farm and wine caves. The Swiss border is within walking distance, and chairlifts and cable cars run to several local resorts including Champery and Morgins. Chilly Powder offers other 12-person chalets close by.
