Chaffeymoor Grange

Bourton, Dorset, England

Fantastic Late- Availability Offer - Weekend of 15/16th June now reduced to £2,800.00 for 2 nights or add a 3rd night for £3,200.00!!!

Chaffeymoor Grange is a beautiful stone manor house set in five acres of glorious Dorset countryside. It sleeps 20 people comfortably (+ 4 children) in 10 bedrooms and is available for hire as a large house for your exclusive use.

Dating from the 17th century, the house has been remodelled over the years and is now a spacious, rural retreat ideal for house parties, such as family reunions and special birthdays, joint family holidays, weddings (licensed for civil marriage and partnership ceremonies for up to 80 guests), and business meetings, training or teambuilding events.

The décor is a happy marriage of contemporary and traditional. The original features we love in our country houses – stone mullioned windows, huge fireplaces and exposed beams – have all been retained and are perfectly complemented by modern furnishings and stylish décor. A central sound system, hard wired broadband internet access, a huge American style fridge and power showers have all been installed. The extensive grounds include beautiful, mature gardens, an ornamental pond, a tennis court, a croquet lawn, and even a lake with its own island.

The excellent local chef and caterers can provide whatever level of catering you require and use locally produced food wherever possible.

Downstairs you’ll find a superb, oak-panelled drawing room looking out onto the terrace and gardens, an impressive dining room seating 20, a games room, a breakfast room with a refectory table for 12, a morning room with French doors leading onto the terrace, a large, well-appointed kitchen, an ancillary kitchen/utility room and two cloakrooms.

All the reception rooms are linked to a central sound system, and internet access is available throughout the house.

Upstairs, there are 10 spacious bedrooms, all doubles or twins, plus nine bathrooms, mostly en-suite. All these rooms are superb, with power showers standard. Crisp white linen on the beds and huge fluffy towels are provided, along with indulgent treats in the bathrooms. The house will sleep 20 comfortably, with up to four additional children in Z-beds and cots.

The big kitchen is at the heart of the house, and opens into the breakfast room with an original slate floor, a range cooker and that big fridge. One of the loveliest things about this house, particularly if you hire it off-season, is the open fires which blaze away in the huge stone fireplaces in both the Breakfast Room and Drawing Room (with wood happily supplied).

Meetings for up to ten people can be accommodated around a large table in the boardroom. Hard-wired internet access is available throughout the house and presentation equipment can be arranged. There is a pool table in the Games Room and team building activities such as treasure hunts, clay shooting and archery can be arranged.

Entertainments such as casino evenings or murder mystery evenings can be organised and a visiting beautician can offer massage and facials.

For the more energetic there are maps showing running and cycling routes and horse riding, fishing and golf are all close by. Chaffeymoor Grange is also an unforgettable venue for a wedding. The drawing room can hold up to 80 guests for a civil marriage or partnership service; alternatively the dining room will hold up to 40. There is ample parking for 40 cars on the estate, and the local church car park can be used if more parking is needed for larger functions.

Just off the A303, on the edge of the pretty village of Bourton, within easy walking distance of an excellent local pub and village shop. You’ll find local facilities in the little town of Mere (3 miles), while the larger town of Wincanton, with a full range of shops and supermarkets, is five minutes away by car.

Easy access from London (111 miles/2 hours’ drive), Bracknell (1 1/4 hours), Swindon (1 hour), Bristol (1 hour), Bath (40 minutes). Airport: Bristol Stations: Gillingham, 10 mins (London Waterloo 2hrs) Castle Cary, 10 miles (London Paddington 1hr 50mins).
