With its varied and unspoilt landscape, Herefordshire offers a tranquil mix of abounding countryside and pretty, historical villages, perfect for a relaxing break. Located in the West Midlands it borders some of the most spectacular countryside in the UK and has one of the lowest levels of population in England. The bulk of the county is a patchwork of green fields and open spaces, with much of the land given over to agriculture, which is perhaps the most dynamic trade in this delightful county.
To the south of Herefordshire, Ross on Wye sits high above the River Wye on a sandstone cliff. An ancient market town, offering some of the finest views in England it offers a glimpse into our country’s past as the surrounding countryside looks like it’s been preserved in time. Featuring Tudor timber houses and a beautiful 14th century church, its skyline is instantly recognisable as you approach.
Situated along the border of England and Wales lies the Marches; an area of land abundant with lush greenery it was also once at the heart of the wool trade, with Ryeland sheep fleeces being the source of the areas prosperity.
Leominster is a town located within the Marches and is a charming place to visit. A creative hub for arts and crafts, many flock to the area to rummage through the vast amount of antique shops around, as well as the various art galleries and craft stores.
