Krakow is the second largest city in Poland and the main popular destination for tourists. With seven universities, it is known as the leading location for culture, education and science and there are hundreds of historical buildings and museums to explore. You’ll find a vibrant nightlife, fantastic eateries and attractive streets to wander. Fantastic buildings from Gothic churches to baroque features will catch your eye as you stroll the city which is also a noted UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The scenic countryside of Poland away from the popular cities is perfect for a relaxing and idyllic holiday. The Tatra Mountains form a natural border between Poland and Slovakia and are the highest mountains in the country. Perfect for outdoor adventurers, there are fantastic walking routes and opportunities for skiing, climbing, kayaking and caving. The Baltic coastline is where you will find pretty seaside towns and white sandy beaches, or head to the Great Masurian Lakes, close to the Lithuanian border for picturesque forests and clear lakes.
Local cuisine across the country is plentiful and wholesome with dishes based on great Polish produce. Duck, goose and trout are popular and often accompanied with cabbage, mushrooms, beetroot and onion which are cooked to perfection and create light crisp flavours. When it comes to dessert however, you’ll find sweet delicious treats to try from cream cakes, apple strudel to the traditional ice cream known as lody, a popular delicious pudding.
