Or head out of town to explore the wider delights of the English Riviera, to the Victorian resort of Paignton (4 miles) with its beautiful beaches, or Brixham (10 miles) with its historic fishing harbour and nature reserve.
The main home, Rutland Lodge, has a spacious, fully equipped kitchen with a cafe-style coffee machine and all the equipment you need to cater for a large party. Take your pick of where to serve meals, in the dining room with its ornate fireplace or the conservatory beneath the sprawling branches of fruit trees. After dinner, whip the cover off the dining table to turn it into a pool table and games room, or head to the lounge and relax on the luxurious leather sofas and armchairs in front of the wood burner. There are five spacious bedrooms: two king-size, one double and two twins. Each has a TV, DVD, sofa or armchairs, and an en-suite so everyone gets their privacy. One bedroom is located on the ground floor, while the other four are on the first floor. Completing the house is a cellar containing a utility space with a washing machine and tumble dryer, and a video game room with gaming chairs and beanbags, the perfect hangout space for kids and teens.
The Babbacombe and Wellswood mews houses have been fitted out in the same way to provide two almost-matching four-person homes. They both feature spacious, comfortable lounge rooms with leather sofas and patio doors to the shared courtyard. The kitchens are light, airy and fully equipped with everything you need to cater for four, plus a round dining table and chairs. On the first floor of each house, you’ll find two attractively furnished bedrooms, one king-size and one twin room, all with statement wallpaper, charmingly sloped ceilings and skylights. In addition, each house has a ground-floor shower room and a first-floor bathroom with a shower over the bath.
These three properties share access to a large, enclosed and covered courtyard with plenty of comfortable seating, coffee tables and a dining table and chairs. There is also an eight-seater hot tub (available Easter till 1st October) which is the perfect place to relax at the end of a long day. Backyard chefs will love the outdoor kitchen space which is lit and fitted with a sink and plenty of work surfaces, and includes a brick BBQ and wood-fired pizza oven – perfect for cooking up al fresco feasts!
