This traditional Gower longhouse is set half a mile outside the pretty seaside village of Llanmadoc at the foot of Llanmadoc Hill, the second highest hill in Gower with an Iron Age fort settlement at its peak. The village boasts a popular gastropub, a community shop which doubles as a cafe, and a 13th-century church overlooking the sea. Beautiful rural and coastal walks leave from the cottage. Whiteford Sands nature reserve (2 miles) is reached through Cwm Ivy woodlands and includes a long-abandoned lighthouse and a two-mile expanse of sand and dunes backed by pine trees. Adjacent to Whiteford Sands (but only accessible in low tide) is Broughton Bay, another sandy beach. The 14th-century Weobley Castle is 2 miles away and has excellent views over Llanrhidian salt marshes and the Loughor Estuary.
This pet friendly cottage is accessed down a gravel drive and has nine steps up to the front door. There are two lounges, both with sofas and double doors leading out to the courtyard and garden; the main lounge features an inglenook fireplace with a wood burner. The country-style kitchen has a large island and a dining area, and there’s also a shower room on this level. An oak staircase leads up to the first floor, where you’ll find three double bedrooms, one with an en-suite shower room, and a twin room with restricted headroom in some places due to the original beams. Please note, there are two steps down into one of the double bedrooms. A bathroom features a free-standing bath with a hand-held shower attachment.
The front and rear gardens both have drops from the lawned area, so small children should be accompanied at all times, and the sloped rear lawn is set above a natural spring so can become waterlogged at certain times of the year. There is a further lawned area to the front of the cottage and a separate paved area to the rear with garden furniture and a BBQ.
