This impressive farmhouse is brimming with old-world charm, providing a base for eight guests to explore ancient woodland, majestic mountain ranges and the glacial lakes of Bassenthwaite and Derwentwater.

This impressive holiday home is situated on the edge of Whinlatter Forest Park, providing you and your fellow guests with a fabulous selection of walks and bike rides directly from your front door. You’ll also be within easy reach of the bustling market town of Keswick (3.5 miles), where you’ll find a great selection of outdoor adventure companies. The farmhouse sleeps eight guests across four bedrooms and welcomes one canine buddy, making it ideal for large families and groups of friends. The property is incredibly spacious, with a lounge and snug providing ample room for everyone to relax. The outdoor area is ideal for entertaining, with a large patio and built-in BBQ, as well as a fully enclosed lawn where children can play.

The property has an idyllic setting, surrounded by trees and mountains, and is reached via a quiet country lane. Once inside, a warm welcome awaits, thanks to two roaring wood burners and cosy underfloor heating. At the heart of the home is the vast kitchen/diner. This space is ideal for hosting dinner parties, with a chic kitchen, double oven, and large dining table to seat everyone. The kitchen/diner is full of character, with a beamed ceiling and elegant slate flooring. The spacious property boasts two reception rooms; come together to watch a film on the TV in the lounge or get cosy in the snug with your favourite book. This room also has a TV/DVD, so there’s no need to argue over what to watch! An original staircase, with many steps and turns, leads to the four bedrooms, so take care when ascending and descending. The farmhouse has two outdoor areas, meaning you can follow the sun throughout the day. There’s an enclosed lawn to the front of the property, and a large patio to the rear where you can enjoy evening meals under the stars. The property has ample off-road parking.

Whinlatter Forest Park offers fun for all the family. Follow the waymarked tracks to explore the forest, stopping off at the picturesque picnic spots along the way. There is also a network of exhilarating mountain bike trails. Those seeking an adrenaline rush can swing through the trees on the high ropes and whizz along the zip wires at Go Ape. For something a little more serene, head to Bassenthwaite Lake (2.5 miles). Meander along its peaceful western shores, paddling in the water and admiring the stunning reflections. Round off the day with a trip to The Lakes Distillery, on the shores of Bassenthwaite, where you can sample the artisan whiskies, gins, and vodkas, followed by dinner at the stylish bar and bistro by the water.

A beautiful cottage in beautiful location. We have had a lovely week at High Garth farm. The house is very well presented, comfortable and in a great location. the cottage is possibly the best one I've ever stayed in. My family thoroughly enjoyed it as well. Beautiful location, everything we could have wished for was provided, even down to cosy blankets for evenings. Kitchen was very well appointed with all gadgets, crockery, cutlery and extras provided. Really well equipped property in a great location with a few walks direct from the door. Great for exploring the Northern Lakes (which are the best any way :)) Lots of lovely original character in the property including wonky floors and low door ways which added to the charm, whilst also including modern bathrooms and kitchen. The cottage is really comfortable, warm and well equipped in an excellent position. You can walk into the Windlatter Forest and easily reach lakes, walks and viewpoints or Keswick for a wet day. We had a kyack and were able to launch on both Derwent Water and Bassenthwaite with permissions. Hall Garth Farm is perfectly situated for a relaxing holiday and cleanliness was excellent throughout. Unfortunately, one major issue was that the heating was locked and we were unable to adjust the temperature in any of the rooms. We found the kitchen and downstairs rooms to be cold. We kept the sitting room warm by using the open fire but needed Read moreto buy several bags of coal and logs as these were not included. We had a fantastic week. It was all go with mountain biking, walking, quad biking and lake swimming all reasonably close-by. The house is lovely and very well-equipped. Great location, very peaceful and lovely views. The only drawback was that some of the low doorways and high steps into/out of rooms caused us more injuries than the mountain-bikingRead more!!
